Carbon Dust: A 3 day workshop at Brookside Gardens with Instructor Trudy Nicholson in early December.

This is a late addition to our fall class schedule, but a very good workshop nonetheless, with instructor Trudy Nicholson. After many of you expressed interest in a more in depth look at Carbon Dust, Trudy offered to run a 3-day workshop in early December.

Description:
Imagine painting with pencil. That is the basis of creating 3-dimensional form effects using the flexible carbon dust medium.

Carbon dust is spread on the surface with a dry brush creating tonal values from palest gray to rich, intense black. Detail can be drawn directly on the surface with carbon pencils, and highlights and fine white lines or textures can be scratched out.

The end result consists of textures ranging from lovely smoothness to jagged roughness. This is a classic technique perfected by early medical illustrators and now applied to general natural science illustration.

Dates: December 7, 8 & 9, 10:00am-4:00pm
Location: McCrillis Gardens
Fee: $279
Instructor: Trudy Nicholson
